ESC Fall Protection

Instructor‑led, hands‑on training for workers, supervisors, and anyone who works at height or uses fall protection systems. This course provides practical, job‑ready skills that meet Energy Safety Canada and WorkSafeBC requirements.

Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries — this program teaches you how to identify fall hazards, select the right equipment, and use fall protection systems correctly so you can work safely, confidently, and in full compliance with industry standards.

What You’ll Learn

  • Roles and responsibilities for workers, supervisors, and employers
  • OH&S legislation and CSA Z259 fall protection standards
  • Identifying fall hazards and assessing risk
  • Types of fall protection systems and when to use them
  • Harnesses, lanyards, anchors, connectors, and equipment inspection
  • Calculating fall clearance and understanding fall forces
  • Pre‑use checks and proper donning of equipment
  • Travel restraint, fall arrest, and work positioning systems
  • Emergency response and rescue planning
  • Practical hands‑on exercises: inspecting, fitting, adjusting, and connecting equipment

Jurisdictional Notes

If you plan to work in Newfoundland and Labrador or Ontario, check with your employer for certification eligibility to ensure it meets local jurisdictional needs as outlined below:

  • Newfoundland & Labrador: Workers must complete the 2‑day WorkplaceNL training course.
  • Ontario: ESC Fall Protection is not valid for workers on “construction projects.” These workers require Ontario Working at Heights (WAH) training.
  • Employers must designate a competent person based on assigned tasks. This course supports competency but does not replace employer designation.

Why Workers Choose This Course

  • Industry‑recognized ESC certification
  • Hands‑on practice with fall protection systems
  • Clear, straightforward instruction
  • Real‑world scenarios and practical evaluation
  • Certification issued same day
  • Meets employer and regulatory requirements across construction, energy, and industrial sectors

Important Information

  • Government‑issued ID required at check‑in
  • Street parking is free
  • Complimentary coffee, tea, water, and light snacks included
  • 3‑year certificate issued upon successful completion

Relevant Feedback

I say with no exaggeration, this was the best training course I’ve ever take, in any subject. Not because of the subject matter, but for the engagement of the instructor with the class. I never felt bored or the urge to check my watch to see when I can leave. Very charismatic instructor, extremely knowledgeable, and philosophical. A memorable experience to say the least.
