H2S Alive® Blended Renewal – Skills Assessment (ESC Authorized Training Provider)

Renew your H₂S Alive certification with a fast, flexible blended approach designed for today’s workers. This streamlined renewal combines online theory through Energy Safety Canada with a one‑hour, in‑person skills assessment delivered by SafetyBC Kelowna, an ESC Authorized Training Provider.

You receive the SAME certification, the SAME industry‑recognized training, and the SAME 3‑year validity — with a more efficient, worker‑friendly format.

How the Blended Renewal Works

The ESC online portion and the SafetyBC in‑person skills assessment are two separate components of the Blended Renewal.

Each component has its own fee:

• ESC Online Theory – purchased directly from Energy Safety Canada
• SafetyBC Skills Assessment – purchased separately through SafetyBC Kelowna

Both parts must be completed to renew your H₂S Alive certification.

1. Complete the H₂S Alive Blended Renewal Online Theory through Energy Safety Canada.
2. You have 90 days to book and complete your in‑person skills assessment with SafetyBC Kelowna.
3. Successful completion of both components results in a 3‑year ESC H₂S Alive certificate.

This blended format gives you the flexibility to complete theory at home while still demonstrating essential hands‑on competencies with a certified instructor.

• Current (not expired) H₂S Alive certificate
• Government‑issued photo ID
• Valid ESC Student ID number
• Successful completion of the ESC online portion

Skills Assessment Requirements

To complete the practical evaluation, students must be able to:

• Don a mask and breathe under air
• Perform rescue drag techniques
• Wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for movement, rescue drills, and donning/doffing an SCBA
